Fort Rotterdam is one of the best-preserved examples of Dutch architecture in Indonesia. This old fortress on Jl. Ujung Pandang, overlooking the harbour right in the heart of the city, is one of the principal attractions of Ujung Pandang. Rebuilt in Dutch style the fort now bears the rather more nationalistic title of Benteng (Fort) Ujung Pandang. Other interesting places to visit are :

Trans Studio, located on the main road of Metro Tanjung Bunga Street, Makassar. The 2.7 hectares indoor theme park consists four zones with 22 features and rides, which is able to hold 5,000 people. The 2.7 hectares indoor theme park consists four zones with 22 features and rides.

Bira Beach, approximately 4,5 hours from Makassar. The clear water and sky and swimming is something that could cheer your day in one fine afternoon. This place is unbelievably attractive and the white sands that scattered around the shore is really pretty. Before reaching the beach (approximately 25 minutes from bira), you will pass the village where locals build traditional ship. The famous “PINISHI” Ship is actually produced in this village, and they still continue producing ship till now. It’s also could be additional bonus for your trip if you happen to visit Bira.

Visitors may also want to visit the Palace of King of Gowa Balla Lompoa, Tomb of Sultan Hasanuddin and Fort Somba Opu.
