Candi Dasa was named after old temple on the nearby hillside. In the village you will find a Gandhi meditation center on the edge of lotus pond just beside the beach. Offshore islets and coral reefs make it an ideal diving and snorkeling spot. How to get there? If you come from Kuta and want to avoid crossing Denpasar, take the direct shuttle bus which departs from Kuta, while from Ubud take a similar shuttle at 8.15 am or 4 pm. These buses also run the return journey. The best way to explore the area's back roads is by car, motorbike or bicycle, all of which can be rented at several outlets in Candidasa.

In the Candidasa there are also many points of interest including the islands mother temple of Pura Besakih and local indigenous villages. Adventure trips can be taken into the mountains, up the volcano and for whitewater rafting is also popular.
