In Praise of Karimunjawa Islands

Karimun JawaKarimunjawa Islands is located in the northern district of Jepara, Central Java; this island is the largest island among the 27 islands. Located 45 miles northwest of the town of Jepara, this island is covered by 100,105 ha of sea and only 7120 ha of land. It has been preserved as a national marine park.

Climate is influenced by the sea breeze blowing throughout the day, the average temperature of 26-30 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of 22 degrees, and the maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius.

Beside Karimunjawa, visitors can find other bautiful white sand beaches like Kemujan Island, Menjangan Besar Island, and Menjangan Kecil Island.

Karimun JawaKarimunjawa island has all the beauty of natural scenery from coral reefs, sea grass and marine biota, mangrove forests, mountains, lowland tropical forest to crystal clear waters where all the sea creatures living in and they all are visible from above, you don't even have to dive. Majority of the islands are beautiful white sand, good for camping, hiking and trekking.

To get there, visitors can fly with chartered plane from Semarang that flies from Semarang to Dewandaru Airport in Kemujan Island.

There also a regular ferry that sail from Tanjung Emas port in Semarang and Jepara port to Karimunjawa Island.

Karimun JawaWhile in Karimunjawa, you can rent car or motorcyle to go around the island. For those who want to visit the other islands, they can use local boat or motorboat. It is always recommended to book the car before you arrived in the Karimunjawa.

As it's surrounded by seas, most meals served are sea food such as fresh fish and prawns. Various types of accommodation is available, you can choose from the four star hotels to homestay.

Karimunjawa is surely a hidden paradise to escape from your daily routines.
